Semester Fee for the SoSe 2025

The StuRa has already decided on the amount of the semester fee for the summer semester on 27.11.24. Specifically, the StuRa decides on the contribution for the semester ticket and the contribution that all students pay to the student body.

The third part of the fee, the fee for the student services (Studierenden-werk), is not decided by the StuRa, but by the Studierendenwerk’s supervisory board.

The total semester fee for the summer semester is 282 euros.

Below we explain how the contributions are made up and what they are used for.

Semester Ticket Contribution

Price per student in the contract: 176.40 euros

WiSe 24/25: contribution 168.00 euros / subsidy 8.40 euros

SoSe 25: contribution 172.00 euros / subsidy 4.40 euros

For some time now, the student body has been subsidizing the semester ticket with money that we received from the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and that could not be spent during the coronavirus pandemic. As we will soon have used up this money, the subsidy will decrease and the contribution for the ticket will increase.

Contribution for the Student Body

The StuRa decides on the use of the fees for the student body.

A certain portion of the contribution (1 euro per student per semester in the summer semester) is passed on to the student councils, which use it primarily to plan events for their students.

The rest of the money is used for the Studi-Magazin , the compensation of the AStA officers, the payment of AStA employees, administrative costs and the promotion of AStA & StuRa.

Not only have our savings been used up recently, but inflation has also caused prices to rise sharply in many areas, so the fee has been raised from the previous 9 euros to 11 euros from the coming summer semester.

We Don’t Like Rising Contribution

As StuRa & AStA, we naturally don’t like rising fees and know that we students don’t suddenly have more money in our pockets. In the current situation, however, we don’t really have any other choice if we want to maintain our services in their current form.

We are working hard to increase the efficiency of our structures so that the contribution for the student body can hopefully remain constant at 11 euros for a long time to come!

For students who cannot afford the semester fee, there is a semester fee refund for social reasons. The next application period for this runs from March 1st to May 2nd, 2025.
